What Are Chakras?

What Are Chakras?
A Chakra(pronounced "cha"-"kra") is a center of energy. Originating from Sanskrit, it literally means “wheel” by association with its function as a vortex of spinning energy interacting with various systems in the body. When you look at how the energy flows from the chakras throughout the body it looks like branches and roots of a tree.

While the first references to Chakras were found in Hindu scriptures, the teachings of Buddhists, Tibetans, Mayans, Kabbalists, and Christians, among others, acknowledge the chakras(energy centers) and refer to a similar system in their teachings.
These energy centers within the human body help to regulate the body from organ function to the immune system and emotions. We naturally experience energy blocks, stagnation, and imbalance in our Chakras. It is unavoidable.

Everything has energy and can have a positive or negative effect. Emotions are even energy.  Negative or repressed thoughts, memories, emotions, and beliefs can cause energy blocks or sluggish centers. Long-standing fears and trauma from childhood, crowded shopping centers/events, bad traffic jams, and major life/world events can negatively impact our energy centers.

Although there are 114 Chakras, four are dormant and two are outside the physical body. That leaves us with 108 active Chakras but we will only be covering the 7 main Chakras. These seven are positioned throughout your body, from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each Chakra has its own vibrational frequency, that is depicted through a specific Chakra color, and governs specific functions. The 7 main Chakras play a big role in balancing your Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Letting Go Of The Emotional Pot Holes of Life

Letting Go Of The Emotional Pot Holes of Life

Life is a journey. Sometimes it is a smooth, straight road with clearly marked directional signs.

From time to time though, Life throws us potholes and sharp turns that leave us wondering where we are and how we ended up in a ditch.

No matter where we end up, there is always a lesson or two to learn. We can't always see it while we are on the trip. But the lesson is there.

And sometimes we walk away with hidden bruises like self-doubt, heartache, anger, and depression. And we relive the trip over and over and over again.

Are you tired of reliving the trip?

Are you tired of the emotional merry-go-round from it?

Are you ready to LET IT GO?

Try this simple ritual for letting go.

Even I Need Reminding

Even I Need Reminding

We all need reminders from time to time to stop and enjoy the little things. To take a breather from life's stress and chaos of the world around us. To just breathe.

I was taking a quick detour in my yard today on the way from my car to my house and went past my special spot, my Sacred Space.  I had no intention of walking into the space though cause it was a very hot summer afternoon down here in the Deep South. And the shade was not offering any relief from the heat.

But just as I got even with the entrance into my spot, a movement happened and a plop onto leaves noise sounded. So I looked over and saw this fellow looking at me. I, of course, greeted him(Like I do all animals, birds, lizards, Dragonflies, fish, and frogs). "Hello, little fellow. Stay right there. You don't have to leave. I'm not going to hurt you."

We just stared at each other for a minute or two. Me just appreciating a thing from Nature and breathing. Watching his color change slowly. Then I decided to take a few pictures, because I'm like that too. ;)  All the while, he just sat there in the shade on the leave and looked at me. He never moved except for his breathing.

I thanked him for allowing me to get pictures and for the visit and then continued on to the house to get out of the heat.

That little frog has stayed with me since then. A reminder to stop, see the little things in life, to take a time out, to enjoy nature, and to BREATHE.

How about you? When was the last time you stopped and enjoyed the little things around you? Tell me below what you enjoyed! I'd love to know.

Stressed? Go Stand Outside!

Stressed? Go Stand Outside!

When you have a stressful day or just feel off, go outside and take your shoes and socks/hose off.  Stand still while taking a slow deep breathe and feel the Earth beneath your feet. Then do what is called Earthing. It is a great way to find some balance while relieving stress!
